Engine Repair in Chattanooga

Engine noises are hard to describe and easy to misjudge, which is exactly why guessing gets expensive. A knock can be a failing accessory pulley or it can be a rod bearing, and those two answers are separated by a few thousand dollars.

  • ASE-certified technicians
  • 12-month / 12,000-mile nationwide warranty on covered work
  • CarFax Top-Rated Service Center, 6 years running

Sounds familiar?

  • Knocking or tapping that gets faster as the engine speeds up
  • The temperature gauge climbs in traffic or the heater blows cold
  • It shakes at idle and smooths out once you are moving
  • Hesitation, stumbling, or a noticeable loss of power
  • White, blue, or black smoke from the exhaust
  • You are adding oil or coolant between services

Overheating is the one that turns small into catastrophic fastest. A $30 thermostat ignored for a month becomes a warped head. If your gauge is creeping up, that is a today problem, not a next payday problem.

Not every engine is worth repairing, and we will tell you when the honest math says otherwise. On a high-mileage vehicle with a failing engine, hearing that early is worth more than a hopeful quote.

Covered engine repairs carry the 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty, and the work is logged to CarFax.

Engine Repair questions we get a lot

My engine is knocking. How bad is it?

It depends on where the noise lives and whether it changes with engine speed or load. A tick from a lifter and a knock from the bottom end sound similar to most people and mean very different things. We place the noise first, which takes a fraction of what a wrong guess costs.

Why does my car overheat in traffic but not on the highway?

At highway speed, air moves through the radiator on its own. In traffic, the cooling fan has to do that job. Overheating that only happens when you stop usually points at the fan, the fan clutch, or a circuit that controls it.

Should I repair the engine or replace it?

That depends on the rest of the vehicle more than the engine itself. Sound body, a good transmission, and a car you plan to keep can justify a repair or a replacement engine. Rust, a slipping transmission, and 250,000 miles usually do not. We do not rebuild engines in house, so when a repair will not do it, a replacement engine is the option on the table, not a rebuild. We will give you our honest read rather than the answer that writes the bigger ticket.

What does engine diagnosis cost?

We quote diagnostic time up front based on what the symptoms suggest. If you have the repair done here, that time goes toward the job.
